Da-Ja-Vu

After reading just under 1/6 of my way into the book, Extreme Programming Refactored: The Case Against XP, it was already like reading the story of my project for the last 12 months!

I wish I discovered this book at the beginning of this year so my project did not run into all the (apparently well known) pitfalls!

It still amazes me how we, as the whole team, are still doing damage control 6 months after spending only less than 4 months in XP model.

Amazon deserves to make a profit

From my previous entry, I talked about the problem I had with the second DVD of the season 2 “24” box set. And how quickly Amazon’s customer service response.

Well, the replacement box set has just been delivered to my apartment! All I need to do now is mail the old box set back and the postage is paid for by Amazon. This is what I call customer satisfaction! And if Amazon does not continue to make a profit then that is another injustice in the world.

WTC PATH

Leah and I took the PATH to the World Trade Center station this afternoon for the movie. Riding from the Exchange Place stop across the Hudson River towards WTC was an eerie experience. The Port Authority has obviously laid completely new tracks because the ride is super smooth, unlike the rest of the route. As we pulled into the WTC station, we were treated with the outside view of Ground Zero. After we got off the train, I was immediately able to recognize the huge escalator banks that used to led to the WTC concourse. They are still at the same location but the space at the top of the escalator is not what it used to be. This, though, brought back all my memory of the WTC and I could see in my mind where each shop was and what they all used to look like. If only I can ‘download’ my memory to preserve it for my offsprings to see and feel. Once we got above ground, it seems like the only original pieces of the WTC left standing now is the escalator/stair case the led from the ground level to second floor of what used be the Border bookstore on the north side of WTC 6. I wonder why it has not be knocked down.

I blame the parents

Duck in a bar?

Leah and I just had a rather bizarre dining experience. About a month ago a new bar & grill, Buskers, opened up close to where we live in Hoboken. We meant to try out their food but only got around to do it tonight. So we went in there after watching Timeline in the cinema across the river at the Battery Park City.
