Strange spell checker

I’ve noticed this a few times already while blogging in ecto but just not it finally gets to me. It seems that OS X‘s native spell checker does not know about the word ‘gotten‘ in the English language! Why, I haven’t gotten a clue! May be it is trying to tell me to use simpler tenses than past participles?

Miss Spellings

I am hoping that someone in the White House anticipated this ironic headline when they decided to nominate the new secetary for the Department of Education. So if Margret Spellings makes a mistake in the future as education secetary, can we call her Bad Spellings or Misspellings?

Revival

When I was a teenager living in the middle of nowhere in the U.K. in the early 90’s, my then best friend introduced me to Pearl Jam and their great music (Ten and Vs. which I still think are their best work thus far). But I lost interest in them after the release of the Vitalogy album which, at the time, I thought was not really Pearl Jam anymore.

However, back in October when Pearl Jam’s iTunes exclusive album, Live at Benaroya Hall, was released I found myself listening to the preview tracks and liking them. I bought that album soon and now I am in a Pearl Jam revival mood. I’ve just previewed and bought their No Code album and iTunes is downloading the tracks as we speak. Strangely I already have the Yield album (which I thought was OK) that was released after No Code. Somehow I skipped that album without knowing until this evening…

Perhaps as I mature from teenage to adulthood, my music taste matches (with years long delays) Pearl Jam transformation as well? Or is it a case of nostalgia?

Xbox

So I’ve succumbed to the game console temptation after Halo 2 was released this week and bought a Xbox this evening. The main reason is that a group of us in the office decided that we should setup a team to play online. And since I loved playing FPS game online I couldn’t really resist with playing Halo 2 on Xbox Live! with team speak. I am still getting used to the game pad control with its very different way of movement and POV. I miss my mouse for aiming!
