Ten Years Later

iTunes is currently playing the Alanis Morissette’s Alanis Morissette ten year anniversary acoustic version of Jagged Little Pill Jagged Little Pill (apparently a Star Bucks exclusive). I can’t believe it has been ten years since I started my second year of college, and almost ten years since I met Leah! And we are going to see Alanis Morissette at the Radio City Music Hall tomorrow night. No doubt it would be another great performance from her.

Uninformed Commentating

Last night I watched the recording of the Canadian Grand Prix on TiVo. It was broadcasted, not by Speed Channel as the rest of the season, but unfortunately by CBS. So instead of having three experienced Formula One commentators including Steve Matchett who was the race mechanic for Benetton during the 90’s when Michael Schumacher was at the team, CBS has Derek Daly and Ralph Shahean. These two are so uninformed it was incredible! When they found out that Montoya was black flagged due to existing a closed pit lane Derek Daly said, and I quoted, “I can’t believe they’ve closed the pit lane when the race leader is in the pit!”

Ahem, the pit lane is closed due to the Safety Car approaching. It is in the rule book and every team should know that. Not to mention there is this big red light at the end of the pit lane to warn the driver not to exist. Formula One is not like NASCAR or IndyCar where rules are bent or made up on the fly to suit the racing. Mr. Daly, please read up on F1 rules before the next broadcast or else please remain silent when in doubt.

Only Mac fan will do this?

A real life iPod silhouette guy?

Can’t imagine someone will dress up as Bill Gate and pretends to play the Xbox 360…

DVD meme

I didn’t even know I got tagged to do the DVD meme by badly dubbed boy until Leah told me last night. So here goes.

Total number of films I own on DVD/video: At last count a few minutes ago, 72. This doesn’t include Leah’s own extensive collection though.

The last film I bought: Lost In Translation. Why didn’t Bill Murray win the Oscar for his role? Is there no justice in this world?

The last film I watched: That’s easy one. Star Wars Episode III. Bad acting but great movie.

Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me (in no particular order):

Contact: Probably the best Sci-Fi movie I’ve seen. Forgetting the possibility or impossibility of alien contact, the deeper question is whether you will volunteer to go or not despite the risk? Me? Definitely a go.

Forrest Gump: Tom Hank may not be the best actor ever, but his portray of Forrest Gump was pretty spot on. But it was the story that made this movie works. There isn’t another movie (that I know of) that digests recent American history that well.

Top Gun: I know it is cheesy and it is Tom Cruise. But when you were a bored teenager spending a long summer school break in Hong Kong without much spare money to spend, Top Gun was great movie to pass time!

The Original Star Wars Trilogy: Enough said.

Band of Brothers: I know this is not a film but since we are talking just DVDs… Easily the best TV mini-series by a long margin. The camaraderie of the paratroopers and the scarifies they made for the greater good can made even a grown man cries.

And to pass this on…
