Honeymoon is finished

I wasn't surprised the FIA double standard and the British press have finally came out in force after this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix. What I am surprised is it took both of them this long before slamming the winning team that is not Ferrari, and any one who stands in the way of a British driver to win a race even if it benefits the whole British team over the whole season!

I still love F1 as a sport. I am even less hostile to Ferrari nowadays because one certain M. Schumacher is no longer driving for them. But the irrationality and viciousness of the British press will never fail to keep me away from that country.

QotD: Luxury Wish List

If money were no object, which five luxury items would you rush right out and buy?
Submitted by lorilyn.

I'll assume "money were no object" means infinite amount of money. Then I'll just have to buy out the McLaren F1 team. Mind you, I don't want to manage the whole F1 team and its complex operation. I just want to own the team so I can have trackside access and inside information on what's going on.

The other 4 items are just things that keep me occupy when I am not traveling between races or not attending test sessions, so really are of no consequences.

QotD: My Ambitious Wish List

What are 5 things you'd like to accomplish in the next 5 years?

Mmm… I don't normally like to list goals simply because if, for whatever reasons through no fault of my own, I don't achieve them I feel I've failed. But there are always some nebulous goals that I want to achieve in the future and so here they are (in no particular order):

  1. Move west to another city (eiron and I are thinking Chicago at the moment)
  2. Buy my first property (most likely because of #1)
  3. Change job to work on more exciting software, perhaps back to my 'root', i.e. real-time, safety critical software.
  4. Do more photography and may be go on a photography vacation/tour.
  5. Go to more Formula 1 Grand Prix races. Canada next year will be a good start.

Maiden Win

Congratulation to Jensen Button (is his name weird or what?) for winning his first ever Grand Prix in Hungary. About bloody time too! At least he didn't throw it away like a certain Scottish driver in a race leading Williams down under. Personally I prefer Kimi Raikkonen to win but I can't have what I want all the time. And I think karma was at work today because after Alonso went off the race with a loose wheel nut and second place was a certainty for Schumacher, he retired late in the race through his own doing! I bet Flavio must be laughing his head off in the Renault motorhome when he saw Schumacher retired.

QotD: Desktop Show and Tell

What is your current computer desktop image? Let's see it!

Well, let's see. The laptops at home both have pictures of McLaren. JPM on the PC, Kimi on the PowerBook. At work, both monitors have pictures of a yellow Lotus Elise, each from a different angle.

They are all due for a change, since well, JPM no longer drives for McLaren and Kimi probably will not for next season. And the chance of me owning a Elise in the next few years are as good as me winning the lottery…
