Redundant

If you are the few people who follow this blog, you will noticed that lately I’ve been doing most of my blogging on Vox and cross-post them here on TypePad. The social networking and QotD aspects of Vox have rekindled my interest in blogging in recent weeks. The Flickr and Amazon integration also make linking to media much easier than on TypePad.

There is no definitely plan for me to abandon TypePad in the foreseeable future (Leah’s blog will still be on TypePad and Vox at the same time. Somehow she likes double posting. Not to mention all the old posts that I have here on TypePad) but I think eventually I would just blog from Vox and redirect the mineblogging.com domain to my Vox blog.

DIY*

Leah and I were woken up by a muffled thud on Thursday night while we were deep asleep. I turned around to the direction of the noise and noticed the wardrobe doors were slightly ajar. I remembered them being shut tight when we went to bed so I immediately suspected that the clothing shelf has fallen down to the ground. Sure enough when I got out of bed and peeked through the wardrobe door gap, I saw the top of the white wire shelf lying on the floor, on top of all the clothes that used to be hanging from it. Since we couldn't do much about it we went to bed and left the clothes where they were.

Yesterday, we went to Home Depot and got all the supplies that we need to fix the shelf. Leah got to see me as doing DIY for the first time since we moved into our Croydon apartment 6 years ago when we had to assemble new furnitures. I would have documented the DIY repair in photos if Leah wasn't occupied with her "art project". Anyhow, after over an hour of drilling, screwing, and hammering, the shelf is now up and back to its former glory, with all of our clothes back on and underneath it. We'll see how long it will last…

* DIY = Do It Yourself = Home Improvement, for the American out there.

QotD: My Intro to the Big Screen

What was the first movie you remember seeing in a movie theater?
Question submitted by mainmor.

The first movie that I have recollection of is the original Superman movie. Actually I remembered winning a pair of free tickets to Superman in one of the bottle drink. I insisted my mom taking me to see it even though it was an English movie, and I knew not a word of English then. We ended up leaving the cinema about half way (a third?) through the movie because there wasn't enough action to keep me interested, and I kept asking my mom what was going on.

The proper first movie that I remembered seeing is Star Wars. This time not knowing English did not diminish my enjoyment of the movie at all, for the obvious reason!

MacPro

Wow! Quad-core.

Wow! Four drive bays.

Wow! $3500+ for the configuration I want. Where is my lottery ticket? I can pretend that I am, in a sense, buying two computers but it is still difficult to justify spending that amount of money…

In other news, Leopard looks real cool. Meanwhile VMware will be coming to OS X and Microsoft is scared away by the big bad wolf.

Maiden Win

Congratulation to Jensen Button (is his name weird or what?) for winning his first ever Grand Prix in Hungary. About bloody time too! At least he didn't throw it away like a certain Scottish driver in a race leading Williams down under. Personally I prefer Kimi Raikkonen to win but I can't have what I want all the time. And I think karma was at work today because after Alonso went off the race with a loose wheel nut and second place was a certainty for Schumacher, he retired late in the race through his own doing! I bet Flavio must be laughing his head off in the Renault motorhome when he saw Schumacher retired.
